Key Players in Internet Messaging

The Internet has completely packed down the use of wires in a traditional method called local area networking or LAN. It has even surpassed the wireless technology after LAN that is the wired area networking, which uses optical technologies.

There are three key players in the exchange of information of any form through the Internet. The process begins with an end-user accessing information from a server through the Internet. Information is not stored on the Internet, but rather is displayed through a server owned by a person or by an organization. He or she can use any electronic device with access to the Web as a tool for communicating with the keeper of the information he or she is requesting to have.

The request will be passed to the server through the Internet as the platform or channel. There are different servers that might contain the message appropriate as response to the request. For this reason, the Internet displays several options from which the end-user will select the best to rely on. The Internet uses various messaging mechanisms to enable communication between end-users.

Today, the Internet is not accessible through computers alone, but is also available on other electronic devices, like cell phones. Like computers, cell phones are given certain restrictions on the software shared through the Internet. Many software programs have encryption that prevents them from being implemented instantly after downloading to these devices. Companies producing these softwares use server CALs to protect their products from cloning and illegal distribution.

Some software is not readily available for use in a certain group of devices because of the incompatibility of the operating system of those devices. Even if they do not require server CALs to work, they need to be converted in order to be useful. Middleware can also be used to utilize the software without having all its details converted into compatible characters.

Middleware is not a key player in the messaging mechanism of the Internet, but it is commonly used software that enables software of different types to be shared by devices using different operating systems. This is a valuable type of software purchased at high cost by different companies, especially those engaged in telecommunication, to facilitate a wider scope of clients. This is the reason why most middleware are accessible through the use of a server client access license.
